Dental implants are great dental restorations that can replace your missing teeth and their roots for a lifetime. However, that’ll only be the case if you take good care of them. So, to help you keep your implants in tip-top shape, our George Strickland, DDS team recommends caring for your implants by doing the following things:

-Brush: Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make sure you thoroughly scrub each tooth and do your best to remove the plaque and food particles in your smile. If you brush for two minutes each time, you’re on the right track.

-Floss: Floss your smile at least once a day. You can floss your teeth with a product of your choice, but make sure you floss with a clean section of floss when you move from tooth to tooth.

-Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. That way your smile will be deeply cleaned and the plaque and bacteria will be killed and washed away.

-Visit your dentist: It’s vital that you visit your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and exam. These appointments are beneficial because they eliminate the plaque from your teeth and they also give your dentist the chance to check on your implant.

As you can see, taking care of your implant is the same as taking care of your natural teeth, which means that it shouldn’t be too hard.
